India, the Afghan was the dearly beloved friend of a young divorced woman. They had been through a lot together. India's "mom" is into Morgan horses and I met her and India at a Morgan specialty show. India was on her last legs...a long illness and her kidneys were shutting down. It was a heart-wrenching meeting when I met India and took a few pictures. Her "mother" was devastated and we both shed a lot of tears.
It is amazing the bond that fellow animal lovers have. I didn't know this woman at all but I shared her grief so deeply. Poor India had to be put down immediately after their return home. Since India was in such poor physical shape when I took the photos, her "mom" supplied me with some photos of when she was younger and her coat was beautiful and her eyes danced with joy. She was a very special dog and shared everything her "mom" did in life and will certainly never be forgotten.
