Group Portrait Painting in Pastel

This is a group portrait.

This client wanted a large portrait (14 x 27) to place above his mantle that would include all the dogs he and his wife currently have together with some that had already passed. They supplied a variety of photos, none terribly good. Some were just small shots with the dog on a person's lap in the photo or distant shots etc. The ones included here are what I ended up using.

It was a fun project to work on. I took the photos we settled on and arranged them in thumbnail "sketches" in a variety of ways and let the clients decide on which arrangement they liked best. Then it was on to the portrait work itself.
