| This picture developed from a photo I had taken of a friend's puppy many years ago. We had set up a corn shock and some duck decoys along with a shotgun and shells to make a little set for him. Recently I was approached by the Creative Services Director at Foster & Smith (they are the largest pet supply mail order company in the US) with whom I have a business relationship. I worked with the art department there through several series of sketches and drawings to come up with this idea for their Holiday Edition for 2006. I believe it is the first time that they have used artwork on a cover as opposed to photography. It was a challenge coming up with the ideas and trying to follow through and put together what someone else wanted. Very different from having a photo and being told ... this is the one ... do this picture ... and then just cleaning it up or putting a background behind it. Click here to return to top of page.
