Toby is a standard smooth dachshund I met through the dachshund club. He has a neat story related to this portrait. I arranged via e-mail for Toby's owner to bring him to a field trial I was going to attend. She was a field trialer and was already entering a couple other dogs she owned in the trial. Toby had almost everything he needed for a field championship, but just could not complete the last requirement.
I think he was either 12 or maybe even 14 when she brought him to the trial for his photographs to be taken for the portrait. At her daughter's urging, she entered Toby in the trial (he hadn't entered one in several years). Amazingly, he earned that last requirement to make his field championship. It was so neat, because she never would have entered him if we weren't doing the portrait.
