Deuce is an Entlebucher Sennenhund. It took me a long time to learn that name! I met the woman that hired me to do this painting of her granddog at the local Art League here. Turns out there are three types of Swiss Mountain Dogs...the AKC recognizes one size only. This variety is a little bigger than a beagle but smaller than a lab. His family takes him everywhere with him and "grandma" dogsits occasionally. I never met Deuce, but I had some lovely pictures to work with. I remember I was very concerned getting the background just right. She had asked for a moss green with gold so it would match their house. Moss green is straight forward. But gold...is it yellow gold, metallic gold, orangey gold... I fretted, but it was perfect and she was thrilled.
