This is Emma.
Emma is a West Highland White portrait I did for the gallery owner I work with. She enjoys having me paint portraits for her to give to her friends as gifts. I am fortunate that she has many animal loving friends.
Being a surprise gift, my client did not have a variety of photos to select from. This reference came from a shot her friend had e-mailed her some time previously of her dog. The photo was very low resolution, so it had little detail when printed out to use for reference. In it, Emma is looking up at the camera and the portrait needed to be created with her looking out at the viewer instead of up. So a little artistic license was involved in this. I also needed to clean her up a little and reduce the staining around Emma's mouth. My client also desired a nice blue background to highlight her white coat.
I enjoy having my customers really get involved in the creation of their portrait. There are a lot of options available and people can really be a part of the creative process if the choose.
