Mia belongs to a dachshund breeder in Minnesota. Her owner had been breeding conformation wires but they had no hunting ability. She was not able to get anything field trialing them. So she experimented by breeding to a European dog from the east coast. European dachshunds are too small to be competitive in the US conformation ring and those that are bred for hunting have poor conformation. The breeder found a dog that was large for European stock and fairly nice conformation. She hoped within three generations she could get the good conformation of her dogs back and keep the hunting instinct she hoped to instill. Mia is from the very first litter and she got her conformation title in less than a year and her field championship at an incredibly young age. Her littermates have all done equally well. It's a neat success story.
