Whether you're looking through old photos of a friend who is no longer with you or are ready to take some new photos, look for shots that catch that special look or pose that most characterizes your pet. Cindi does her primary work from a photo you've selected that captures the pose you like best. She may use other photos to help in re-creating the right color of coat or eyes and other details. But you'll have lots of opportunity to be involved in the creative process in making this a unique keepsake.
- If you want a background, Cindi can do just some colors to contrast your pet's color or it can be a fully detailed painting of whatever you like. If you prefer, you can opt for a classical look of your pet's likeness on a soft solid colored background.

Cindi creates pastel paintings for her pet portraits. Pastel paintings are the most permanent of all mediums because there are no liquid binders to darken, fade, yellow or crack with time. Pastel paintings will still look exactly the same 100 years from now as they look today.
Many great masters created pastel paintings using pastels and for preliminary sketches as far back as the 16th century. Pastel paintings have been enjoying a resurgence in their popularity since the 1970's. Cindi paints on a premium quality, acid-free velour paper. Velour paper has a texture exactly as its name describes which imparts a uniquely soft and life-like 3-D texture. You must physically see pastel paintings on velour paper to appreciate it because it's impossible to adequately display the effect on a flat computer screen.
After you've discussed your pet portrait's details with Cindi she begins the artistic process of creating your unique original portrait. Cindi takes digital photos of the entire process. She e-mails them to you so you can watch your pet portraits being created. This gives you a great opportunity to make additional comments you think are helpful in making sure your portrait absolutely captures your pet's unique personality.
